10 Tips to Increase Click Through Rate (CTR)
There are many things you can do to improve your CTR. This can be a combination of the right keywords, the ad, or the content or design of your website, such as the landing page.
Firstly, what is CTR?
Before doing anything, you should know who your visitors are. Do your research. Search your competitors. This is like any business; fail to do so and you will be more likely to lose money than earn it.This is the percentage of viewers that click on your ad. Not to be confused with the impressions, which is actually the number of people who view the ad, and whether they click on it or not. Here’s the maths: if an ad is clicked once for every 100 times it is shown, it has a CTR of 1% (1/100).
If you follow these few tips, combining it with some hard work and motivation (don’t forget your Ad Split testing), you can go a long way!
Top Tips to Improve CTR
1/ The Ad Itself…
Add a price in the headline. This can help a great deal, however be careful as if you are not the cheapest, this will have the opposite effect (again, do your research!).
Use words that sell or bring interest (bargain/discounts/how to/introducing/save/revealed/do wonders/results/new/proven/easy…)
Use targeted Keywords related to your product.
Capitalize The Words: This can have a HUGE impact on your ad, such as the small words (in, on, and…). But be careful not to overdo it.
The 3 Dots (…). Again, really small changes can make a big difference.
Include symbols in your ad copy such as ©®™
2/ Track Results
Especially with ad testing, you need to know what you are doing, what works and what doesn’t.
3/ Create Several Ad Groups
You’ll find it easier to manage with lots of ad groups and fewer keywords.
4/ Use Videos
5/ Add Negative Keywords
6/ Add Some Snippets
Whether it’s reviews, photos, phone numbers, etc.
7/Call To Action
These should be prompts to your customers e.g. buy now, call now, download, order now, start a free trial, etc.
8/ Adding an Extension
Adding an extension to your URL will allow you to show additional info for your ad.
9/ Bid on your company name and brand
10/ Add Sitelinks to your ad
They can be products, seller ratings, locations etc. This feature allows webmasters to add in other hyperlinks to their website. In short, it means you’re getting more for your ad money as there is more chance a customer will click through to your site.
